The Cream of the Crop announced from the Cornwall Farm Business Awards 2022

The Addington Fund Cornwall Farm Business Awards did not fail to entertain last week (Thursday 29th September) with a spectacular evening celebrating Cornish agriculture with delicious local produce, fantastic company and the announcement of the winners of the farming award categories.

Held for the first time at the iconic Eden Project, guests arrived looking glamorous as ever in black tie and ball gowns and were welcomed by a glass of cold fizz while overlooking the breath-taking biomes.

Daphne Skinnard from BBC Radio Cornwall was the compere for the evening. Addington Fund CEO, Bill Young welcomed guests with a speech highlighting the current challenges for the sector, how the charity is helping those in need and and future plans for a new entrant’s scheme.

Lord Falmouth from Tregothnan Estate represented the charity patron, HRH The Countess of Wessex, with words of encouragement for British farmers and reiterated the importance of the work of the Addington Fund.

Peter Beaumont, Managing Director of Cornish Mutual (Principal Sponsor of the Awards) recognised the achievements of each of the nominees with his usual wit, humour and style, before announcing the winner and inviting them to collect their trophy.

After celebrating the category finalists, the auction ended the night with a bang raising vital funds thanks to the entertaining style of auctioneer Edd Buckland. The guests were incredibly generous, raising over £5,000 through the auction and raffle and with support from category sponsors the total raised for the Fund is over £11,000!

This phenomenal amount of money goes directly to help British farmers through the work of the Addington Fund.
